MAIN FUNCTION OF THE JOB:
To support welding activities by assisting with rail cutting, preparation, grinding, finishing, tool control, material handling, and site clearance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of EGCSE with at least three (3) credits including Mathematics
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in track maintenance
- Strong track maintenance background and basic understanding of thermit welding principles
- Practical experience in track maintenance
- A valid driver’s licence is an added advantage

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist during welding operations, including rail preparation, alignment, cutting, grinding, and post-weld finishing.
- Load, offload, arrange, and control welding materials, tools, molds, and consumables.
- Maintain welding tools, grinders, saws, clamps, thermometers, and related equipment.
- Support safe site clearance and ensure good housekeeping before track is returned to traffic.
- Observe all safety, PPE, hot-work, fire prevention, and track protection requirements.
