MAIN FUNCTION OF THE JOB:
To assist Plant Operators in safe and efficient operation, care and support of heavy plant and mechanized equipment used for tamping, ballast regulation, profiling, geometry correction, loading and off-loading of materials.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of EGCSE with at least three (3) credits including a Pass in English
- A credit in Mathematics will be an added advantage
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Physical fitness for demanding field work
- Experience in the railway environment is an added advantage

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Plant Operators during daily operations of yellow plant and mechanized equipment.
- Support tamping, ballast regulation, profiling and geometry correction activities within authorized occupation windows.
- Assist in loading and off-loading materials onto and from wagons and trucks using loading equipment.
- Verify machine certificates, monitor roadworthiness, and escalate defects immediately.
- Keep machine logs for fuel, utilization, downtime, and defects to support cost control and machinery life.
- Clear machinery promptly for scheduled train movements as instructed by the relevant operational authority.
- Use appropriate tools, small plants, mechanized equipment, materials, and PPE during work activities.
- Maintain safe working conditions, good housekeeping, and compliance with safety rules, regulations and instructions.
