MAIN FUNCTION OF THE JOB:
To operate and care for On-Track Machinery/mechanized equipment used for tamping, ballast regulation, profiling and geometry correction within authorized occupation windows, as well as loaders. To load and offload material using loading equipment onto/from wagons and trucks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of EGCSE with at least three (3) credits including a Pass in English
- A credit in Mathematics will be an added advantage
- Valid operator certificate for relevant plant or On-Track Machine
- Reference from a plant dealership or relevant contractor
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in plant or railway
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with minimum two years’ experience

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate yellow plant, road-rail vehicles and other assigned machinery safely and efficiently.
- Support track maintenance, construction, and repair activities as instructed by the relevant supervisor.
- Clear machinery promptly for scheduled train movements as instructed by the TCO or Track Foreman.
- Conduct pre-start and post-operation checks on machinery and equipment.
- Verify machine certificates, roadworthiness and operational readiness before use.
- Report defects, unsafe conditions, and breakdowns immediately to the supervisor.
- Adhere to all ESR safety regulations, standards, work procedures, and site instructions.
- Load, off-load, move and position track materials as instructed.
- Assist with material handling during track maintenance and related work.
- Ensure machinery and materials are handled safely to prevent damage, loss or injury.
- Keep accurate machine logs for fuel, utilization, downtime, defects, and production.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors, TCOs, Track Foremen, team members and contractors.
